One more client has turned to us asking to create a design for his e-commerce site. While doing the work for him we had a chance to ask why he had chosen Magento software solution for his business. And the answer was FLEXIBILITY!
Flexibility of Magento features doesn’t mean boundless opportunities. But they are almost the best if to speak about existing open source solutions for e-commerce. Seems that more commercial shopping cart vendors have to start being afraid.

Magento is an e-commerce platform that is developing rapidly nowadays.
The main pros for Magento are the following:
1. It’s free of charge. You may install it just after downloading. And it really doesn’t require additional expenses on installing and tuning.
2. It has well-developed and structured wiki-style knowledge base.
3. Magento community has tons of experience. If you have decided to make very specific changes to Magento code you may find a piece of advise at Magentocommerce forums.
4. The platform is VERY SEO-friendly.
5. and many others…
But if your requirements are so specific that you cannot find the answer at forums you start drifting to Magento cons

A new player is coming to the industry of eCommerce solutions. It’s called Magento (I’m not sure that this name will not be changed as it sounds a bit strange for a e-commerce shopping cart or something like this). The official site to see the demo and download it - http://www.magentocommerce.com

The most reviews are really positive. So, here at Oxagile we are ready to try it. We were impressed that it’s a completely free software (or better to say – open source eCommerce soft). And we are going to test it for free and to share our observations here.
